Last summer we had an Ant Farm. This summer we are doing the Butterfly Pavilion. A few weeks ago, they sent us the caterpillars and they grew really big and fat and hung upside down and turned into chyrsalids and emerged into butterflies EXACTLY like you hear in science class. I bought an ant farm at Christmas time, but it wasn't humane to ship the ants while it was freezing, so I sent for the ants a few weeks ago and they came on Saturday and they are creepy cool. They're harvester ants and can sting and bite, so I pray to whatever/whomever, they do not escape their nuclear green gel enclosure:
